Economics and Econometrics, 120 higher education credits

The two-year MSc programme in Economics and Econometrics at Örebro University seeks to provide students with a broad level of competence in economic theory and quantitative methods. It provides the analytical tools needed for staff and research functions in industry, banks and insurance, international organisations, government agencies, and non-government organisations. It also provides students with the research training needed to pursue a Ph.D. in economics.

The programme focuses on the use of economic theory and econometric methodology as tools for understanding, modelling and evaluating economic and political issues in society as a whole or in particular sub sectors. The first year provides students with advanced skills in economic theory and econometrics, which are then integrated and applied during the second year. The focus of the programme is on building up analytical capacities rather than trying to cover all aspects of the field. Students are provided with the skills needed to construct, use and critique models used in all areas of finance, micro economics and macro economics.
