About Eva Georgii-Hemming

Eva Georgii-Hemming is Professor in musicology. She received her PhD in Musicology with Music Education orientation from Örebro University in spring 2005. Research interests include questions about music, quality and equality; Bildung and the concept of knowledge, and the value and role of music in education as well as in society in general. Professor Georgii-Hemming is principal investigator of the research project Discourses of Academization and the Music Profession in Higher Music Education (DAPHME), funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (2016–2018). She is the main editor to the anthology Professional Knowledge in Music Teacher Education (2013) published at Ashgate and has also contributed to international anthologies such as Learning, Teaching and Musical identity: Voices across Cultures and Future prospects for music education: Corroborating informal learning pedagogy. Professor Georgii-Hemming has published articles in international research journals, such as British Journal of Music Education, Research Studies in Music Education, Music Education Research, and Nordic Research in Music Education. Her research interests have also led to frequent presentations and keynotes at international conferences in Europe and USA.
