About Johan Nilsson
Johan Nilsson is a lecturer in media and communication studies/film studies and he is responsible for the three-year undergraduate education, the Film Program. His doctoral dissertation (2011) dealt with satirical film during the 1990s in an American context.
Research
Johan's research has been about the poetics and politics of film satire and it has been tied to American film and popular culture. More recently his focus has shifted to an interest in the intersections between different media and how these can be understood through concepts such as intermediality and transmedia storytelling. His most recent article (2018) explored the workings of intermediality in different stories (film, comic book, videogame) about the Joker. He is currently working on an article about transmedial fostering or education in stories (in different media) about the Swedish comic book character Bamse.
