Dr Paolo Remagnino is a researcher of the Digital Imaging Research Centre (DIRC) in the Faculty of Computing, Information Systems and Mathematics at Kingston University. Dr Remagnino specialises in image and video understanding.

Abstract

The talk will start with the introduction of research within DIRC and then move to detailed description of research conducted by Dr Remagnino. In particular, three main threads of research will be described:

1. Intelligent video surveillance with specific focus on analysis of anomalous behaviour and crowded environments;

2. Classification of biological specimens, with particular focus on study of plants;

3. Swarm intelligence for multi-robot applications.

The above mentioned threads of work are related to research funded by a number of research bodies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the Leverhulme Trust and the EPSRC.
