Tolerance and xenofobia  among Nordic youth
a cluster analysis workshop

Thanks to a VR grant we invite to a data workshop, led by professor Judith Torney Purta at University of Maryland and her research associate Dr Carolyn Barber in which we mainly will make us of The IEA CivicEducation 1999 as well as IEA ICCS 2009 data (www.iea.nl).

The substantial theme of the workshop is comparative analysis of tolerance and xenophobian attitudes among Nordic/Baltic youth in various school settings.We will mainly use cluster analysis.

Preliminary dates for their visit here will be June 6-16, 2011. The first couple of days will be spent on theories and methodological issues including brainstorming. The following days will be at the participants' own disposal for writing, etcetera. Those who want can then either stay in Örebro or be in touch with professor Purta et al via mail or Skype. A final heat will then be held about June 14-16 for those who would like to participate in concluding discussions based on presentations and drafts. The workshop will be free of charge. We will assist in finding a priceworthy accomodation.

We hope to attract junior and senior colleagues into various disciplines dealing with the development of Nordic schools, the Nordic youth's political socialization and/or in tolerance and xenophobia in the Nordic countries more generally as well as those mainly interested in applied cluster analysis.
