Global Journalism Day

Tid: 09:45 - 17:30
Plats: Forumhuset, Örebro University
Mona El Tahawy, an award-winning columnist and an international public speaker on Arab and Muslim issues, is one of the speakers during Global Journalism Day at Örebro University on 15 May. In 2010 the Anna Lindh Foundation awarded her its Special Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism and the Estlow International Center for Journalism and New Media at the University of Denver gave her its Anvil of Freedom Award. She was also arrested and injured during the demonstrations in Cairo last November and is on Newsweek's list of "150 Fearless Women" around the world.
The intention of the one-day Global Journalism Day is to bring scholars and practitioners together to discuss the concept of global journalism from theoretical as well as practical angles. Örebro University has had a pioneer role in examining and exploring global journalism through its master programme as well as through a strong research tradition among distinguished scholars at the Department of Media and Communication Studies.
