Economics, Advanced Course, 30 Credits

This course consists of three different sub-courses.
Sub-course 1 deals with key issues for understanding corporate strategic behaviours in terms of pricing, product- and quality selection, marketing, investments and Research & Development; issues that are also at the heart of the design of public procurement systems, regulation of business, competition and consumer protection and more. Basic models in game- and oligopoly theory and principal agent theory are analysed and applied. The course also includes presentation and discussion of policy cases.

Sub-course 2 aims at providing general knowledge of economics and introducing a scientific approach. The student is also given the opportunity to develop his / her ability to acquire and integrate knowledge as well as to perform certain data analysis.

The final sub-course consists of an independent essay of 15 credits. This work involves both the application of economic theory to a problem and empirical analysis. The subject of the essay will be based on the knowledge and skills acquired by previous studies and can be written in Swedish or English.
