About Cecilia Pettersson

Cecilia holds a PhD in health science, occupational therapy and is Associate Professor (Docent) in occupational therapy. 

Cecilia defended her thesis at Lund University in 2014 with the thesis "Powered mobility device use: participation and accessibility". Cecilia has many years of clinical experience of rehabilitation and occupational therapy. She has been a postdoc in the research environment Center for the Architecture of Care at Chalmers University of Technology and is interested in research on healthcare environment and care of older people in ordinary housing. She is interested in enablers and barriers when home- and health care are provided in ordinary housing. Cecilia is also interested in re-ablement,  accessibility and participation in society for people who use mobility devices and is involved in an ongoing project that focuses on inadequate accessibility and discrimination, and project at WHO (Global Research, Innovation, and Education in Assistive Technology (GREAT) Summit). 

Cecilia is co-supervisor for PhD studentLisa Spang. 

Cecilia teaches on the basic and advanced levels in areas related to ageing, participation, accessibility and assistive technology. She is a supervisor in thesis courses (graduate and master theses). Cecilia is involved in the Master’s Programme in Occupational Therapy or Audiology. 

Since 2016 Cecilia is nominated by the Swedish Association of Occupational Therapists (Sveriges Arbetsterapeuter) to contribute with knowledge in the "Expert panel".

Expert in SBU's project on Assistive technology for mobility for people with mobility limitation. 

Leads together with MiaLinn Arvidsson the research group ALVA - Health, care and everyday activities of older people.
