About Judith Brand
Judith Brand is an epidemiologist at the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics unit. She did her MSc in clinical epidemiology at Utrecht University (The Netherlands), followed by a PhD in epidemiology at the same university and postdoctoral research at the Karolinska Institute and the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit, Bristol University (United Kingdom).
Judith’s main research interests include pregnancy and reproductive health, cardiometabolic disorders and cancer. Current projects focus on determining the effects of maternal exposures during pregnancy on various outcomes across the life course of the offspring. Her research area of expertise is aetiological research and she has been trained in statistical methods to strengthen causal inference in observational studies. Her primary goal as a researcher is to provide a solid evidence base that guides clinical practitioners and public health policy workers in their decision-making process of health-related matters.
Besides her own research, Judith provides consultation on study design, on the analytic approaches to data from epidemiological studies, and the interpretation and presentation of study findings for publication. She also teaches epidemiology in undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the medical program.
