About Sofia Österborg Wiklund
Sofia is a senior lecturer in Education with a focus on intercultural perspectives. She works with research, teaching and development within the framework of the strategic initiative "Teacher education for tomorrow". Sofia defended her dissertation "Popular Education in Global (In)justice: Power and Resistance in the Folk High School's Internationalization and Transnational Courses" at Linköping University in 2019. The dissertation examines the relationship between Swedish folk high schools and international development aid and cooperation, as well as how it historically has developed and been negotiated to present times.
Sofia's teaching and research areas concern intercultural perspectives, Popular Education, History of Education, Sociology of Education, Critical Pedagogy, neurodiversity as well as intersectionality and issues concerning power in educational contexts.
