To reduce the risk of infection by the new coronavirus, the university has heightened readiness.
All employees and students are called on to follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Örebro University.

(Updated 20-03-10 at 17:02 No business travel to Italy in general. Special recommendations apply to those who are travelling back to Sweden from Italy.)

We understand that students and staff may be anxious about the present situation and are perhaps worried about family and friends who are visiting or who have recently travelled home from areas affected by the outbreak. We encourage everyone to keep up to date with the information posted on the websites of the authorities mentioned above, and to pay close and continuous attention to the developments.

Örebro University activities, education and research will continue as planned. New information will be given if and when the situation changes.

The vice-chancellor has appointed a special working group to follow the development of events and make recommendations to university management.

People travelling from areas where the virus is spreading

For work environment reasons, staff and students who have recently visited any of the affected countries/regions listed below, are strongly recommended to work/study from home or from other appropriate locations for two weeks following their return to Sweden. Members of staff must obtain approval from their supervisor and students must consult the person in charge of their course or programme. These recommendations also apply to persons who know that they in the last 14 days have been in close contact with persons taken ill with the coronavirus, as confirmed by medical services.

The recommendations apply to the following areas:

  • Mainland China including Hong Kong (but not including Macao)
  • Iran
  • Italy
  • South Korea
  • The federal state of Tyrol in Austria

Staff and students who have recently been to the identified risk areas and experience flu-like and respiratory symptoms should contact the health advice hotline 1177 and follow the instructions given. Be alert to early symptoms!

Before you travel

Business travel shall not be approved to the following areas:

  • Mainland China including Hong Kong (but not including Macao)
  • Iran
  • Italy
  • South Korea

Many international conferences and meetings are currently being cancelled.

The university encourages staff and students who are planning trips or expecting visitors to keep abreast with the latest developments since the situation may change quickly
