Lena Gunnarsson is currently placed at the Department of Gender Studies at Lund University. Her main research interests are feminist theory, social theory, love studies and sexual consent. Much of her work has been dedicated to bridging the current gulf between feminist theory, since long dominated by poststructuralist approaches, and realist perspectives.
Lena completed her doctoral thesis in Gender Studies at Örebro University in 2013. The thesis theorizes women’s subordination to men in and through sexuality and love. The Routledge version of the thesis, The Contradictions of Love, was awarded the Cheryl Frank Memorial Prize.
Lena is convener of The Feminist Love Studies Network hosted by Örebro University. She is currently involved in a research project on sexual consent.
