About this project
In the project, students diverse ways of participating in physical education practice shown in clips on YouTube are investigated and described in terms of how they participate in physical education practice and what kind of practices they participate in. A transactional approach, which takes action in on-going activities as the point of departure, is used as a theoretical framework for the study.
The clips from YouTube can be seen as reports of on-going physical education practices. The sample used in the project consists of student- and teacher posted video clips from 285 physical education lessons in 27 different countries. These participatory processes contribute to the constitution of physical education as a socio-cultural practice, and students know physical education practice through these processes.
