There are numerous pain assessment scales for different types of pain in sick newborn and preterm infants. They are used in scientific trials aiming at alleviate pain in infants but the rationale for the choice of instrument is not always clear. The project will use a systematic literature review to map the use of pain assessment scales in published trials. Secondly, we will investigate reliability and validity for the most frequent use scales. Read the study protocol here.
