Food and Health Communication

How do we communicate healthy, sustainable, and enjoyable food—and how does that influence people’s everyday choices?

These questions are at the heart of the emerging field of Food and Health Communication within the Food and Health Centre.

Research in this area focuses on how knowledge about food, health, and sustainability can be made relevant, understandable, and engaging for different audiences. Even the best research has little impact if it does not reach people and lead to action.

Örebro University brings together a unique combination of expertise in food, health, and communication. By integrating social science perspectives with knowledge of meals, gastronomy, and consumer behaviour, new opportunities are created to understand how communication can contribute to healthier eating habits and more sustainable choices.

Researchers from media and communication studies, political science, and food- and health-related disciplines collaborate within this field. Together, they explore how everything from recipes, meal experiences, and digital communication to public debate and policy can influence people’s perceptions of food and health.
