Application date

Admission with external / other forms of financing takes place four times per semester according to the meeting times below. When the application date for the coming admission meeting has passed, the next application period opens immediately. Applications to the School of Health Sciences are made electronically. Please note that only a complete application will be processed. In order for the application to be considered at an admission meeting, it must be preceded by an admission seminar.

Admissions seminar

According to "Guidelines and checklist prior to the doctoral studies admissions seminar at the School of Health Sciences" (ORU 1.2.1-06604/2018) the admissions seminar is when the doctoral applicant together with the prospective principal supervisor present the proposed doctoral thesis project.

The admissions seminar is to take place no later than 4 weeks prior to the admissions meeting, and shall be scheduled to one of the pre-booked time slots available below.

The seminar is expected to last about 45 minutes and is chaired by the head of subject/specialisation coordinator. The doctoral applicant opens by presenting their research plan, for about 15 minutes. The presentation is followed by a discussion about the research plan, such as any problematic aspects; what form the supervision will take; the doctoral student’s expected performance; as well as any ethical aspects and the ethics approvals that will be required. Before the seminar is closed, any matters that may need supplementing before a decision on admission should be identified. This is to be documented by the doctoral applicant and the prospective principal supervisor.

At the date of the admission meeting, your application is presented at the research faculty and the Head of School decides on possible admission. A few days after the admission meeting, the decision will be notified to you.
