The aim of this project is to develop and validate a Swedish language hearing test of phonetic perception in an ecologically valid background noise. The test will be built around real Swedish minimal contrast words, and utilize a discrimination task in order to establish which phones, as well as phonetic features, that are misperceived or confused. The test should provide a reliable way to measure minor (as well as larger) differences in a person’s ability to perceive language stimuli, and could therefore be a reliable tool in evaluating the effectiveness of various audiologic interventions, such as hearing aid fitting or auditory training.
