Course content

The course provide the doctoral students with knowledge of different qualitative methods, their scientific and philosophical ground and how credibility/trustworthiness in qualitative research are met. It includes knowledge of how data collection and analysis of qualitative data can be carried out and its usefulness, mainly in the field of medical and health science research. The doctoral students apply one of the qualitative methods within their own area. Practical application of a qualitative method is a separate block in the course in which the doctoral student carry out a data collection based on the selected method. Establishment of purpose and research questions, selection, data collection, transcription, data analysis and writing of the results is carried out within the course.

The course consists of two parts; "Qualitative methods, 4 credits", and "Application of interviewing/observation in data collection, 3,5 credits".

If less than 10 applicants, the course will be cancelled.
