Advanced Analytical Methods in Environmental Forensics, Second Cycle, 15 Credits

Advanced chemical knowledge and skills in Analytical Chemistry are essential to perform and understand analytical environmental forensic investigations. An overview of analytical chemistry and methodologies used to characterize environmental samples based on the sample nature, analyte properties and stability, including important aspects of sampling, is given in this course.

Advanced separation methods, pattern recognition and fingerprinting using mass spectrometry, stable isotopes and statistical tools are other powerful tools in Environmental Forensics that will be addressed.

After the course you will have the ability to select, value and use sampling and analytical methods for environmental forensic cases and you will have analytical tools useful to plan and perform environmental investigations in a quality assured way.

When is the course offered?

Prerequisites: A first-cycle qualification comprising at least 90 Credits in Natural Science with 60 Credits in Chemistry. The applicant must also have qualifications corresponding to the course "English 6" or "English B" from the Swedish Upper Secondary School.
