Economics, Economic Evaluation, Second Cycle, 7.5 Credits

This course deals with the economic evaluation methods cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analysis. Economic evaluations are frequently used by public policy decision makers to evaluate and prioritize different investments, regulations and laws. After completion of this course you should be proficient in theoretical as well as applied economic evaluation issues. A major part of the course deals with how to estimate and value effects of different interventions, such as new pharmaceuticals, infrastructure investments, and environmental investments. Other important parts of the course are how to evaluate policies that stretch far into the future, as well as how to deal with the inherent uncertainties in economic evaluations of public policies.


Assessments: The course can be assessed through written examination, take-home examination, compulsory course components, paper, essay and/or oral examination.

When is the course offered?

Prerequisites: First-cycle courses of 75 credits in Economics including an independent project of 15 credits as well as Statistics, Basic Course, 15 credits. Or first-cycle courses of 75 credits in Business Administration including an independent project of 15 credits as well as Statistics, Basic Course, 15 credits and Economics, Basic Course, 30 credits. The applicant must also have qualifications corresponding to the course "English 6" or "English B" from the Swedish Upper Secondary School.
