The School of Science and Technology at Örebro University is seeking an early career postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science for a fixed-term two-year appointment.
Research activities in computer science at Örebro University mainly focus on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. The research is done in close partnership with world-leading corporations such as Atlas Copco, Volvo CE, SAAB Dynamics, Husqvarna, but also with the public sector in regards to health technology. Our aim with this new recruitment is to further strengthen our research competence within computer science towards topics at the interface of artificial intelligence, cognition, and human-behaviour studies.
Duties and responsibilities
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to be based at the Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS) who will work in areas such as Cognitive Vision and Perception, Representation Learning, Commonsense Reasoning, Computational Cognitive Systems.
In order to conduct the above tasks the candidate is expected to have a demonstrated research background and publications within artificial intelligence with a focus on one or more of knowledge representation and reasoning, relational learning, constraints (CHR, SMT), applied machine vision / visual computing. The ability to develop prototypical systems is a must. Knowledge or interest / experience with topics in visual perception, and broadly cognitive science are a welcome plus.
This post-doctoral position is more broadly designed to engage into collaborative research as part of ongoing and outward looking research initiatives at the interface of ``cognition, interaction, and design’’ (see http://www.codesign-lab.org/ ). Here, an open mind and collaborative work on mixed-methods interdisciplinary research are needed. We expect the candidate to participate in ongoing research, dissemination, and networking activities with colleagues at partner universities and in industry (e.g., in sectors such as architecture design, autonomous driving, visual media).
Eligible for the appointment as postdoctoral researcher are applicants holding a doctoral degree in computer science or in related subject areas. The doctoral degree should have been awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline. Candidates who have obtained their doctoral degree prior to that may however also be considered if special grounds exist (leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical duties, an elected position in a trade union, or other similar circumstances).
General assessment criteria include good interpersonal skills and an ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the duties well. Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, is a requirement.

The position is a full-time position for a fixed term of two years. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
