Om Jenny Hedström

Jenny Hedström is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Gender Studies at Örebro University. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the Monash Gender, Peace & Security Centre, Monash University, Australia, and a master degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, U.K. Her thesis research examined how the political economy of the household supports the militarisation of non-state armed groups, with a focus on the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) in Myanmar.  Jenny was previously employed under the Varieties of Peace Programme at Umeå University, focusing on everyday peace in Kayah State and Mon State (Myanmar). Her current project, funded by the Swedish Research Council, explores the politics and effects of gender expertise in peacebuilding in Myanmar.
