Om Valeria Varea

Valeria Varea är Docent i idrott och hälsa. Valeria disputerade vid The School of Human Movement Studies, University of Queensland, Australien med avhandlingen The body as a professional ‘touchstone’: Exploring Health and Physical Education undergraduates’ understandings of the body.

Hon var sedan lektor hälsa och idrottsvetenskap vid University of New England, i Australien och kom 2018 till Örebro universitet som biträdande lektor vid institutionen för hälsovetenskaper.

Forskning

Valeria Varea forskar om kroppen, hälsa och fysisk aktivitet i samband med undervisningen i idrott och hälsa, och i samband med idrottsutövning. Hon använder sociokulturella perspektiv och kvalitativa metoder för att utforska och kritiska granska engagemang i fysisk aktivitet och människors kroppsuppfattning.

Undervisning

Valeria Varea är utbildad lärare i idrott och hälsa och har lång erfarenhet som lärare på universitet, särskilt i utbildningen av idrottslärare. Hon har undervisat på universitet i mer än 16 år och har även arbetet i skolor och i idrottssammanhang. Hon har under sin tid som lärare mött elever och studenter av olika åldrar, färdigheter och socioekonomisk bakgrund.

Samverkan

Valeria Varea har samverkat med akademiker i elva länder, till exempel Spanien, Australien, Argentina och Brasilien. Hon har bred erfarenhet av att leda samarbetsprojekt inom forskning och utveckling. Hon har varit ledamot i en rad kommittéer och har bidragit till samhället genom frivilligprojekt inriktade på hälsa och mångfald. Hon har också samverkat med lokala skolor.
