Marsha Campbell-Yeo - Honorary doctor 2023
Marsha Campbell-Yeo is a world-leading researcher within neonatal care and neonatal pain relief. She obtained her PhD in 2012 at McGill University in Montreal and is a neonatal nurse practitioner at the IWK Health Centre and Professor of Pediatrics, Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University, Canada.
Marsha Campbell-Yeo is also director of the MOM-LINC lab at Dalhousie University (Mechanisms, Outcomes, Moblilization of maternally Led Interventions in Newborn Care), where her research team develops methods for supporting parent involvement in neonatal care, most recently and not least during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is president-elect of the Special Interest Group on Pain in Childhood, part of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).
Marsha Campbell-Yeo has included many leading-edge research methods in her projects, notably network meta-analysis – facilitating the comparison of clinical studies with different outcome measures – and e-health applications. She is also an active promoter of knowledge mobilisation, communicating research results to end-users, for example via SKIP – Solutions for Kids in Pain – where PEARL at Örebro University is a partner organisation.
Marsha Campbell-Yeo’s work focuses on strengthening parents’ role in the care of newborns with health complications, an area in which she and Örebro University have a longstanding partnership. Her research includes parent-led pain relief and how e-health services can be used to increase parent involvement. She has published more than 125 scientific articles and numerous book chapters.
With true dedication on both the national and international arena, Marsha Campbell-Yeo demonstrates great academic leadership. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we welcome her as honorary doctor.
