Agreement changes from 2026

With the new year comes a number of changes to the library’s range of publishing agreements and e-resources.
Publishing agreements
Örebro University participates in 28 publishing agreements covering a total of around 14,000 journals. These agreements, negotiated within the framework of the national Bibsam Consortium, enable researchers to publish scientific articles with immediate open access at no cost.
From 2026, the publishing agreement with BMJ will be expanded with about twenty additional journals. New agreements have also been signed with MDPI and Pensoft Publishers. These two latter agreements are fully funded by the Swedish Research Council, Formas, Forte, and Vinnova. For several years now, these funders have financed a number of other agreements with publishers that exclusively publish open access journals.
The new agreement with MDPI covers the full cost of open access publishing. It replaces the previous agreement, which for Örebro University provided a discount on the article processing charge for open access publication.
MDPI is subject to debate, and a small number of the publisher’s journals have been removed from reputable indexing services. Researchers are, as always, recommended to verify the journal’s status in indexing services such as the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Web of Science, and the so‑called Norwegian list before submitting a manuscript. Further, useful information on choosing the right journal is available.
E-resources
The agreement with BMJ has been expanded to include access to additional journals. Among others, BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health and Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine are now included.
Oxford University Press has changed the name and platform of the product Oxford Scholarly Authorities on International Law. The resource is now called Oxford Law Pro: International Law and International Organizations.
A small number of journal subscriptions have been discontinued for cost-related reasons or due to low usage.
