The Main Library
The Main Library at Campus Örebro is a two-storey building and has many individual study spots, student computer workstations, and group study rooms. The library holds two copies of all obligatory course books used at the university. There is also a reference copy that can be taken out on day loan.
The building is approximately 9,000 square meters. It was completed in June 1996 after 15 months construction.
The library building was constructed by Uhlin & Malm Arkitektkontor AB with design by Julianna Farago and interior design by Ulf Löfgren. Per-Åke Peterson was managing the project for Akademiska Hus.
Study spaces in the library
The library is a popular place for students who want to sit and study. There are several open spaces for individual studies as well as rooms to book for group work and discussions. Please be considerate and keep noise to a minimum.
Quiet study zone
By the large windows facing Långhuset, on the second floor, there is a quiet study zone. Here you can study individually without being disturbed. You may use computer and other electronic devices but, please, remember to keep them on silent mode.
Lyktan on the 2nd floor– a quiet study room
Lyktan on floor 2 is a quiet study zone where the same rules as above apply.
Silent reading room
The quiet reading room is for those who want to study under absolute silence. Here are no computers allowed but devces sucha as iPads without keyboard are OK. It is not allowed to talk or whisper. All sounds can be disturbing, so please show consideration.
Group study rooms
If you want or need to or sit and discuss with your classmates, there are several group study rooms to book via Kronox. The group study rooms are located on both the first and second floor and are have seating for up to 8 people. In Kronox you will see what size the group study room has and what equipment is available.
Microfilm readers are available in room U1167 and can be booked via Kronox.
The Reading and writing studio
The computers in the Reading and writing studio, located in Lyktan Study Support Centre are equipped with programs for students with reading and writing difficulties.
If you are a student you may borrow one of the lockers at the Main Library on level 2 to store any material that you are using for your studies. Reference books, journals or books that you have not checked out may however not be kept in the lockers. Go to the help desk if you want to borrow a locker.
A cup of coffee, fruit or candy is OK to eat inside the library. But remember to clear away your rubbish.
