Over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays you can borrow books without stressing about due dates.

This page has was updated on December 21 with information on further extensions to the loan periods! For those of you who have borrowed books with an extended loan period before 21 December, the new loan period will be visible under My library account from Tuesday 22 December.

Holiday loans from the Medical and Main Libraries

Course books usually have a 7-day loan period, but those borrowed between 17 December and 5 January are only due on 13 January.

Course reference books are usually available as day loans, but those borrowed between 23 December and 12 January are only due on 13 January.

Other items can usually be borrowed for 21 days and the same loan period applies over the holidays.

Holiday loans from the School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Meal Science Library

Course books usually have a 7-day loan period, but those borrowed between 16 and 22 December are only due on 13 January.

Course reference books are usually available as day loans, but those borrowed between 22 December and 12 January are only due on 13 January.

Other items usually have a 21-day loan period, but those borrowed between 1 and 22 December are only due on 13 January.

Renewals

If borrowed items have not been reserved, these loans are automatically renewed for another period when the current loan expires (this does not apply to course reference books). No automatic renewal takes place if the maximum loan period has been reached, if your card has been blocked for loans, or if your account has expired. If automatic renewal is impossible, a reminder of the due date is sent out by email as an extra service. It is your responsibility to keep track of the due date.

Happy holiday reading!
