EndNote reference management software

Reference management software helps you to keep track of and write references, which saves a lot of time. EndNote is a programme that you download to your computer. It helps you to save, share and insert references into a Word document and to create reference lists according to different styles.

EndNote is mainly used by researchers, but it may also be a good choice for master students, for example if you are collaborating with a research group or writing a text you aim to publish as a journal article. We recommend that students writing in groups or pairs use Zotero instead.

Generative AI can be used in the system to create short summaries of uploaded articles. When using the Find a Journal function in Google Docs or Word Online, data about the title and abstract is sent to the provider. The AI in the system is based on the Clarivate Academic AI Platform and is regulated by Clarivate's AI Policy. For generative AI, Clarivate uses services from OpenAI.

You can order EndNote from Örebro University’s IT Services by phoning 019-30 31 66 or by visiting their helpdesk.

EndNote training and support

Students receive information on reference management software as part of the University Library’s teaching sessions on thesis courses. You can also book an individual tutoring session with your academic liaison librarian to get started with the programme.
