Access to e-resources
Students and staff have access to the library’s licensed e-resources (digital journals, books, and databases) both on campus and from home.
Access on campus
On our campuses, you can access e-resources by connecting to the Eduroam wireless network or by using desktop computers on the university network. In some cases, you may also need to log in with your ORU account as an extra step, for example when using a database.
Databases
Find the database you’re looking for through the library’s database list. If a login window appears when you click a link to a licensed database, sign in with your ORU account.
A few databases are not available from home. This will be specified in the database description.
E-books, journals and articles
The easiest way to access e-books, journals, and articles is by searching in Primo from the library’s homepage. If a login window appears when you click the link in the search result, log in with your ORU account.
Other access methods
LibKey Nomad
LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that makes it easy to access full-text scholarly publications. When you browse pages containing references or DOI links, the extension shows if the publication is available through the library. The LibKey link then directs you to the provider where the library has access.
Install the extension in your browser and select Örebro University Library as your organization. If login is required, enter your ORU username and password.
Direct login on the publisher platform
Many publisher platforms allow direct login. The option may look different but is usually called something like “Log in via your institution”. Search for Örebro University and log in with your ORU account. If you need to choose an identity federation, Örebro University is part of the Swedish federation SWAM ID.
Using VPN (for staff)
If you are connected via VPN, the university’s IP address is recognized. In most cases, no ORU account login is required for access to licensed resources. Instructions are available on Inforum.
Google Scholar
By using the Google Scholar link in the database list, you can access the university library’s electronic journals in full text.
For those who are not students or employees at Örebro University
If you are not a student or staff member, you cannot access licensed e-resources from home. To use the library’s e-resources, visit one of our libraries and use the library computers.
Open access resources can be read by anyone. See, for example, the subject category for freely available databases in the library’s database list.
For employees of Region Örebro County, please refer to the Medical e-Library. To access university resources, use the computers at the Medical Library on the USÖ campus. If you are employed by both organizations, you have access to both sets of electronic resources using your respective login credentials.
