SciFree Journal Search Tool
Using SciFree, research staff can easily check if a journal is included in any of the University's publisher agreements, where open access charges are prepaid or discounted.
Most journals listed in SciFree are covered by prepaid agreements. In such cases, the full cost of open access publishing is settled through the library’s publisher agreements. Terms and conditions vary. Detailed information about each agreement, along with author instructions, is available.
When you conduct a search, the applicable conditions for each journal are displayed in the “Who pays?” column:
- If the article processing charge (APC) is covered by the University’s agreement with the publisher, the Örebro University logo will appear. Click the ORU logo in the search results to view the specific terms of the agreement.
- If the APC is discounted, this will be indicated by an icon with the text “There is a discount on the open access charge.”
- If the APC is funded by a research funder, an icon with the text “Research Funders” will appear.
- A small number of journals display a gray icon with the text “The journal does not charge any fee to publish open access.”
If the journal you are publishing in is not covered by any prepaid agreement, you can apply for financial support for open access publishing.
