News on electronic resources, publishing agreements and services 2024

With the new year some changes are taking place in the library's selection of databases and publishing agreements.

Discontinued resources

The agreement to the Statista database has been terminated due to cost-saving measures. Further, the Materials Science and Engineering database has been discontinued as the content of the database overlaps with other resources. A small number of print and electronic journals have also been discontinued due to low usage.

Publishing agreements and fund for open access publishing

Commencing 2024, the research funders Vetenskapsrådet, Forte, Formas, and Vinnova collectively cover the costs of open access publishing in journals from Frontiers, PLOS, and MJS Publishing, formerly Medical Journals Sweden. This means that the entire cost of open access publishing is covered by the funds from the financiers. Information on all publishing agreements can be found on oru.se under Research Support.

Efforts are underway to renew the publishing agreements with the American Physiological Society and JMIR.

The fund for open access publishing, administered by the library, continues in 2024.

New version of SciFree

At the end of 2023, a new version of the search service SciFree was launched, which also has a new address. If you have bookmarked the old version, you need to update the link to the new address https://search.scifree.se/oru

SciFree is a service where researchers can search for journals to see if they are included in any publishing agreements.

Under implementation: iThenticate

iThenticate is a tool that researchers can use to prevent plagiarism when submitting manuscripts to research publications. Work on implementing the service has begun. A link will be added to the library's database list as soon as the implementation is complete.
