Downloads

You can download parts of the book, such as a chapter, without logging in or downloading any special software. All books can also be read in the browser.

If you want to download a full e-book to your device, do the following:

1. Download Thorium Reader, which can be downloaded from this page. Staff can download Thorium to ORU devices via the Company Portal / Software Center. Thorium can be used to read e-books from several different providers (not books from Ebook Central, however) in multiple formats.

2. Log in with your personal My EBSCOhost account, or create a new one if you do not already have one.

3. Find the book and click Download. Select Full eBook.

4. Choose the number of days you want to download the book for.

5. Choose format EPUB or PDF. EPUB generally offers better accessibility for use with screen readers, and the text adapts to the screen size.

6. If a code for Thorium is displayed, copy it. For e-books that do not have copy protection, no code is required.

7. Click on Download.

8. Open Thorium and import the downloaded file. Paste the code from step 6.

Printing in browser mode

You can usually print a limited number of pages from a book as a PDF document. The PDF can be emailed and saved. How many pages can be printed is shown for each title under the heading Permissions.

For some books, publisher restrictions mean that printing is not allowed.
