Annual academic celebration for Örebro University
Örebro University's annual academic celebration takes place this weekend. On Saturday morning, popular science lectures are given at the Conventum Conference Centre, followed in the evening by a gala held in the Nova building at Campus Örebro. The event will see 16 professors inaugurated, 66 doctoral degrees conferred, and the winners of the annual Teaching Award honoured.
Today, the annual academic celebrations will open with a gala concert at the School of Music. On Saturday, a series of popular science lectures, open to the public, are given at the Conventum Conference Centre in Örebro town centre. These lectures are given by new doctors, professors, honorary doctors as well as award winners, and 8 of them will be in English.
In the evening, a ceremony will be held in the Nova building at Campus Örebro featuring the conferment of doctoral degrees and the ceremonial inauguration of professors. The two winners of the Teaching Award, selected by Örebro Student Union, will also receive their prize.
The great finale of the celebrations is the ensuing banquet, planned and executed by students at the School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Meal Science and set within a musical framework provided by Örebro University Choir.
