Miljödata, the supplier of the rehabilitation system called Adato, has been the target of a hacker attack. The system is used by many Swedish customers, including Örebro University.

The system holds sensitive personal data, and there is a risk that information has been leaked. Örebro University has therefore reported the incident to the Swedish Data Protection Authority.

“We take this incident very seriously. Employees from various departments are working diligently to assess how we are affected and to implement appropriate measures,” says HR Manager Katarina Lindholm.

Adato is a system mainly used for sick leave, and apart from universities, many municipalities and regions in Sweden are also among its users.

The system holds personal information about individuals who are, or have been, employed at Örebro University. Therefore, students are not affected. People with protected identities remain anonymous within the system, and their personal information is kept confidential, even if data has been leaked.

The supplier has taken measures to contain the attack, and Adato has been suspended to prevent any damage. As a result, the system, website, and related systems are currently inaccessible.

Other IT systems at Örebro University are operating as expected.

Miljödata has reported the cyberattack to the police.
