ARC Life science and health

Life science and health is one of ARC’s key application areas and societal challenges, with interfaces to research in AI, robotics and cybersecurity.

Life science and health

In life science and health, AI is uniquely positioned to leverage challenges in the field – from clinical diagnostics and personalised medicine to population-level health data – to inspire new AI solutions.

Working with medical data (which is often heterogeneous, multimodal, incomplete, and highly sensitive) provides opportunities to develop new AI approaches in representation learning, causal inference, federated and privacy-preserving learning, neuro-symbolic systems, explainability, automated treatment planning, and cybersecurity studies.

ARC

The mission aligns with ARC's vision to foster AI and robotics research that addresses real-world societal challenges in critical areas while advancing fundamental scientific knowledge.

Tomorrow

ARC Life Science and Health focuses on how the integration of AI methods in life science and health can be developed to create high-impact activities – not only promoting health applications, but also actively driving methodological developments in AI research.

Therefore, the work is not only about applying AI to health, but also about using health and life science as drivers of methodological innovation in AI.

ARC Life Science & Health Seminars

The seminars bring together researchers active or interested in research at the intersection of AI, medicine, and health. They invite distinguished speakers from across the university and are open to both university and regional staff. The seminars are held in a hybrid format. They cover topics such as new projects and aspects of lifelong learning.

The frequency of the seminars is based on demand, and a dedicated budget is allocated to ensure continued interest and the ability to adjust the focus as needed.

Workshop on AI and Health within the AI Days

This recurring workshop brings together researchers from across the university, across disciplines and faculties.
