Focus area: Food and Health Communication

A person holds a portion of street food topped with salad, with more servings in the background.

How do we communicate healthy, sustainable and tasty food – and how can it impact society? These questions are at the heart of the third focus area, Food and Health Communication, which is in its startup phase.

Food and Health Communication is an emerging research area at Örebro University, based on a unique expert profile. Together with the university’s interdisciplinary expertise in food and health, and its established collaboration platform in these areas, there is excellent potential to develop this area further.

In Food and Health Communication, researchers from media, communication and political science have key roles. By combining social science analysis with practical work on recipe development and food communication – for example, through the efforts of the School of Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Meal Science in Grythyttan – the focus area can contribute to the spread of knowledge about sustainable and healthy eating habits to a broader public.
