Linköping Vego 2026 – a meeting place for food, research, and civic engagement
On May 9, 2026, Vallastaden was filled with food, fika, inspiration, and plant-based enthusiasm as Linköping Vego took place – a full-day event with free admission and a broad program of lectures, activities, and exhibitors.
Samira Prado from Örebro University and the Food and Health Centre participated as a speaker and delivered the presentation “Plant-based proteins – food for us and our gut microbes.” In her research, within PAN Sweden, she explores how plant-based foods interact with digestion, the gut microbiota, and metabolism, and how plant-based proteins – in their whole form – can influence gut and metabolic health in different ways.
“I think this event is a great arena for opening up discussions between different target groups and enabling encounters between different perspectives. A very good example of citizen engagement,” says Samira.
Linköping Vego demonstrates how research can meet society, practice, and everyday life – and how conversations about food, health, and sustainability can be made accessible to many more people.
