Course information
The course is based on the doctoral students' own experiences and draft texts, in Swedish or English, with several opportunities for peer review of drafts and manuscripts. The course covers scientific text structures and genres, the function of different parts of a scientific text (introduction, theory, method, analysis/results, discussion, conclusion) and argumentation and clarity in presentation. The course also addresses issues of positioning in relation to existing research. In addition, it includes knowledge of the review process for scientific journal articles and strategies for revising manuscripts.

Admission requirements and selection for the course
To gain access to the course and complete the examinations included in the course, the applicant must be admitted to a doctoral programme. Doctoral students admitted to a doctoral programme within the Faculty Board of Humanities and Social Sciences (HS) at Örebro University are prioritized. Doctoral students at other higher education institutions are admitted if there is availability.
Applicants must have a text to work with during the course in order to get the most out of the course and use their time as efficiently as possible. This may be a manuscript intended for inclusion in a thesis or some other type of academic text (e.g. an unpublished essay).
