Brief presentation
Anders Nordquist is a lecturer in musical interpretation and a trained percussion teacher with both classical percussion and drum set in his repertoire. He has many years of experience as both a freelance musician, mainly in orchestral and chamber music contexts, where he is represented on a number of recordings, and a teacher at all levels. Nowadays, he is mainly active in his musical career as a conductor, where he has conducted both professional orchestras as well as school and youth orchestras, and he is a sought-after conductor and orchestra developer for amateur orchestras.
Anders has been a part-time teacher at the Academy of Music since the mid-1990s but has had a full-time position there since 2008 when he came from a position as orchestra director at the Värmland Opera. Through his previous jobs, including music school principal and regional music advisor, he has a broad base in the national music scene. Among other artistic qualifications, Anders is a successful photographer with several national and international awards, including a gold medal in the Nordic Photography Championship.
Since spring 2020, he has also been appointed as the chief safety representative at Örebro University, and in that role works with overall work environment issues, in close collaboration with employee and employer representatives. He is also a member of the Education Committee (HS Faculty).
