Welcome to the School of Humanities and Education

Forum house where the School of Humanities and Education is located

At the School of Humanities and Education (IHoP), subjects come together that contribute to understanding both people and the world.

The humanities include subjects such as Swedish, English, rhetoric, history and literary studies. All of these disciplines provide insights into language, narratives and the cultural contexts of human life. In education, the focus is on how people learn, develop and interact, from teaching and formal education to communication and socialisation in everyday life. Together, these subjects offer valuable perspectives for both individuals and society as a whole.

The school also offers teacher education programmes, with the opportunity to become a preschool teacher, primary school teacher or subject teacher. These programmes provide the tools needed to make a difference in the classroom and in people’s lives. For qualified teachers, several complementary programmes are also available.

Research at IHoP contributes to new knowledge about language, learning and society. It is closely linked to education and fosters a curious and critical approach to both the present and the future. Research is conducted within research environments, research groups and research projects.
