Jakob Henriques

Teaching  classical guitar, chambermusic and chordinstrument guitar at the School of music.

Jakob Henriques, guitar, earned his concert recital diploma from the
Royal College of Music in Stockholm in 1997. He has been a soloist with
multiple Swedish orchestras including two times with the Swedish Radio
Symphony Orchestra conducted by Okko Kamu and Niklas Willén. He
has performed as a soloist in a work made by and conducted by Leo
Brouwer at the Uppsala guitar festival.
He has won first prize and been on the podium at multiple international
guitar-competitions from 1991-2001. Jakob has performed at prestigious
music-festivals and concert-series in Sweden, Russia, Italy, Switzerland and the United States of America.

He is represented on a handful of CD discs, of which three are solo-recordings with music written for classical guitar and is currently preparing a new release of solo music by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Jakob has also been a part of the jury at international guitar-competitions
in Sweden, Russia, and Italy, as well as inhabiting the position of
“President of the Jury” in the Ural Mountains in Russia. He has held
Master Classes at international guitar festivals and at the music-college
of Stockholm, Örebro, Malmö and Piteå. Since the autumn of 2012 he has been
teaching classical guitar at the Hvitfeldtska Gymnasium in Gothenburg.
From 2015 onwards he has been a substitute teacher at the Academy of
Music and Drama in Gothenburg. Jakob currently works as a senior
lecturer in music performance with a focus on classical guitar at the
School of Music, Theatre and Art at the Örebro University, where he has
been teaching since 2016.
