Short bio
Junaid Qadir received his M.Sc. in Electronics from the University of Peshawar and his M.Phil. in Electronics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Also, he received his Ph.D. in Telecommunications (ING-INF/03) from the University of Genova, Italy, where he focused on cybersecurity in LoRaWAN-based IoT networks, developing lightweight key management schemes to address vulnerabilities in low-power wide-area communication systems. During his doctorate, he was a visiting researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Following his Ph.D., he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at CNIT, University of Genova, contributing to the EU-funded Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects 5G-INDUCE and 6GREEN, with a focus on network function virtualization, orchestration, and secure edge-cloud integration. He subsequently joined the DSP Laboratory at DITEN, University of Genova, under the RAISE project, where he applied deep learning to wearable IMU sensor data for postural health assessment and worked on explainable AI for biomedical signal analysis.
Junaid has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conferences. He also actively serves as a reviewer for several international journals, including IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Access, and others.
