About Kanimozhi Natarajan
Kanimozhi Natarajan is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Science and Technology since September 2025. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from a Bharathiar University-affiliated college in India (2013) and Master’s degree in Biochemistry from Bharathidasan University, India (2015). She earned her PhD in Biochemistry from Avinashilingam Institute, India (2024). She also earned one of India’s elite doctoral fellowships (CSIR-NET), providing full support for her PhD research.
Research
Kanimozhi’s research began during her Master’s degree, where she worked in cancer biology with a focus on plant‑derived metabolites and their effects on human liver cancer cells. During her doctoral studies, her research expanded into bionanotechnology and medicinal plant biochemistry. She explored how medicinal plants function as natural metal‑reducing systems and investigated the role of biologically synthesized, phytochemical functionalized nanoparticles in neurodegenerative disorders.
Currently, her research at Örebro University emphasis on improving the nutritional quality of Pisum sativum seeds by reducing anti‑nutritional factors through CRISPR genome editing, employing both protoplast‑based RNP delivery and Agrobacterium‑mediated transformation.
