About Karin Emilsson

Karin works as a librarian at the Medical Library on Campus USÖ. The Medical Library is part of Örebro University Library.

Support and Teaching

The Medical Library provides library services to employees of Region Örebro County. As part of this assignment, Karin provides support in information searching as well as support and training in the reference management software EndNote.

Together with a colleague, Karin also delivers a lecture on evidence-based literature searching. The lecture is part of the course Vetenskapligt förhållningssätt, which is offered to specialist trainee doctors (ST doctors) each semester.

Literature Searches

Karin supports Camtö (Centre for Assessment of Medical Technology in Örebro) at Region Örebro County by conducting literature searches in databases to support the production of reports. Camtö is a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) unit whose mission is to promote evidence-based healthcare.

Karin also provides information-searching support to other employees within the region, as well as to researchers at Örebro University who are conducting larger evidence syntheses, such as systematic reviews. Support is also provided for smaller literature search assignments.

She is a member of the University Library's Search Group. The group develops internal procedures for comprehensive literature searches and works with professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.

Collections and Interlibrary Loans

One of Karin's responsibilities is the acquisition of library materials for the Medical Library, primarily print resources. This work also includes the selection of literature. She is involved in managing the Medical Library's print journal collection.

Karin is responsible for the Medical Library's interlibrary loan service and works with both borrowing from and lending to other libraries.

Other Responsibilities

Karin works to enhance the user experience at the University Library through the use of UX (User Experience) methods as part of the library's UX Group.

She is also a member of the library's User Services Group, with a particular focus on services related to the information desk.
