About Maja Dobrosavljevic
Maja is one of the 16 international PhD students within the Newbreed Successful aging programme, co-funded by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Co-funding of Regional (MSCA COFUND), Ageing and psychosocial adjustment thematic area.
Maja obtained a psychology degree at Belgrade University, Serbia, and a research master degree in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. She also conducted an 8-month internship in Affective Neurosciences, at Ghent University, Belgium. After that, she worked as a research assistant in the field of neurorehabilitation in older people with cognitive impairments.
The focus of her PhD project is to investigate Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in older adults and a potential link of ADHD and age-related disorders, such as dementia and cardiovascular disorders. This will be done by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis, and subsequently using data from Swedish national registers. In addition, a potential mediation effect of comorbid psychiatric and somatic health problems between the onset of ADHD and the onset of age-related disorders will be investigated in a population based approach. Finally, a risk prediction model of cardio-vascular diseases of older people with the regard to diagnosis of ADHD, related multi-morbidity and the level of psychosocial adjustment across the life-span will be developed.
