About Sofia Ask
Sofia Ask is a PhD student at the Department of Medical Sciences, Health and Caring Sciences, Örebro University. Sofia combines doctoral studies with clinical work as a physiotherapist at Prima Health Centre, Västerås. Sofia has extensive experience as a physiotherapist in primary care with specialist competence in Orthopedics and a higher degree in Mechanical Diagnostics and Therapy (MDT).
Research
Sofia's research and dissertation work is about implementation of the neck-specific exercise program in primary physiotherapy care. Previous research studies have shown promising results of the program for individuals suffering from chronic neck pain after a whiplash injury. We are now implementing the program in primary physiotherapy care in Sweden, using two different implementations strategies.
Teaching
Sofia has participated in educating physiotherapists in the neck-specific exercise program as part of the project. She also participates as an assistant teacher in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) for physiotherapists and gives introductory lectures in MDT for physiotherapy students at Uppsala and Mälardalen University. Sofia has previously worked as a lecturer at Mälardalen University at the Physiotherapy program.
