Release party for anthology on successful ageing

A release party was held for the anthology co-written by doctoral students at the research school Successful ageing.

Fifteen papers on the positive aspects of ageing. On Thursday 22 March, a release party was held for the anthology co-written by doctoral students at the research school Successful ageing.

The doctoral students have just completed a course discussing a number of aspects of successful ageing. Part of the course was to write about their projects from a popular science point of view. It resulted in the anthology “Successful ageing in an interdisciplinary context – popular science presentations”.

A total of 15 of the research school’s 18 doctoral students contributed.

“The anthology caters for anyone interested in ageing research. But its main purpose is for us to showcase the projects underway within Successful Ageing,” says Eleonor Kristoffersson, Director of Studies at the research school.

Commented on the papers

The release party opened with a keynote address by Karen West, Aston University in Birmingham. She is a sociologist specialising in ageing research and a part-time visiting researcher at Örebro University.

“Karen had read the anthology and commented on the various papers,” says Eleonor Kristoffersson.

Three of the doctoral students – Magnus Schoultz, Sofia Alexopoulou and Lame Maatla Kenalemang – proceeded to give a presentation of their contributions. Refreshments with canapés and drinks concluded the book release.
