Örebro University has a long history of strong research in areas that focus on the importance of nutrition for health and well-being. The Food and Health Center brings together the university’s unique interdisciplinary expertise, forming a new organisation that integrates research on food, nutrition, technology, medicine, and social sciences.

Örebro University contribute to Sweden becoming a leading global player in the field of development and consumption of foods with health benefits by systematically building knowledge, competencies and skills.

The Food and Health Center’s research strategy focuses on multiple defined areas for research and innovation, with the common denominator being how our dietary choices and lifestyles affect us as humans.

In the initial phase, the centre will focus on understanding how we, as individuals, respond to the food we eat, also known as “responsive nutrition”. The centre also aims to increase knowledge about how other substances – which we ingest through food – affect our health, and how best to communicate this knowledge to those who need to be reached.
