Many open access journals do not charge a fee. Further, your research funder may provide a platform where you can publish research results for free.
Journals that do not charge a fee
Use the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to find journals where you can publish open access without paying a publication fee. Journals indexed in DOAJ are quality controlled. You can limit the search in several ways. For instance, you may limit the search to only include journals that do not charge a fee, or filter by subject, publisher or language.
Open access publishing platforms
Some research funders provide a platform for peer review and free-of-charge open access publishing. Examples include the European Commission’s Open Research Europe platform, where results from research funded by Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe can be published for free. Other examples are the Wellcome Open Research and Gates Open Research platforms.
