Summary
My research focus is on mathematical reasoning, and to try and understand how a teaching practice can be shaped in order to enhance the students participation in mathematical reasoning in whole-class discussions. Previous research show that mathematical reasoning is an important part of teaching and learning mathematics. With a social and interactive perspective on learning, mathematical reasoning is also viewed as part of a social, interactive process. In this seminar I will present the aim of my doctorial project, some previous research on the topic, the base for my theoretical perspective and some methodological starting-points. I would also really appreciate your input and suggestions. Therefore there will be time at the end for questions and discussion. It is also estimated that the seminar will take less than two hours.
